Almon Strowger
Almon Strowger was born on September 5, 1829 and died on March 14, 1908. He was born in Penfield, New York. Strowger invented the first dial telephone. In 1891, Strowger got a patent for his invention. He was successful enough to open up his own company called, Strowger Automatic Telephone Exchange. The idea to create a dial telephone wasn't Strowger's own personal idea. It was actually attempted by Connolly & McTigthe in 1879 but Strowger was first to get it to work. Over the years Strowger's company is still around but is called, AG Communications Systems.
